Finding The High Jumpers in the USA

Rachel McCoy

With Sue Humphrey, Host & Founder of the Gold Medal Coaches Summit

The USA had a tradition of elite high jump performances over the years. Lately, some of the best jumpers in the USA aren't performing at the level we'd hoped. Olympian McCoy & Coach Humphrey discuss how to get the USA back to the podium.

Rachel McCoy is a late bloomer to the sport of track & field. She won 2 California high school high jumps state titles, but then focused on basketball. After placing 4 at the 2014 World Juniors, she came back to track & field full time. During her short career, she's made several Team USA squads and was on the 2020 USA Olympic team. She also made the USA World Indoor & Outdoor squads in 2022.

In the 2022 Outdoor Worlds, she missed making the finals by 1 attempt at the qualifying height and was the top USA finisher. Her recent success was winning the 2023 Pan Am Games high jump championship in early November. She's now focusing toward Paris 2024.
